An unsettled week with wind, rain and showers although it will be mild
The week ahead is going to be remaining unsettled. There will be some windows of fair weather, but Atlantic weather fronts will be bringing rain, followed by showers. It is likely to be windy at times with a risk of gales. Temperatures will be mild overall.

Monday 19/2/24 Fair to start Monday across central and eastern areas of the country, some morning sunshine and dry too. Rain will be into Scotland and Ireland by daybreak, this then reaching northern England, Wales, the Midlands and parts of southern England as the morning progresses and will be turning increasingly showery. These showery bursts of rain passing through much of the rest of England early in the afternoon as drier and brighter weather moves into the west. Highs at 8 to 11C.
Tuesday 20/2/24 A wet day in Scotland and parts of Ireland as a front trails through the area. Eastern Scotland and the far south of Ireland may be a little drier. Some outbreaks of rain for northwest England. Drier for the rest of England and much of Wales, although breezy with some drizzle and low cloud as well as hill fog over western and southern coasts. Highs at 14C in England and Wales, 10C in northern Scotland.
Wednesday 21/2/24 Wet and windy weather is likely to be affecting many areas on Wednesday as fronts move through the British Isles. There is a risk of gales in more western areas. Turning brighter but with heavy showers in Ireland and the west of the UK later. Highs at 7 to 11C.
Thursday 22/2/24 Thursday may start fair with sunny spells in eastern areas. Some heavy showers in the west merging to longer spells of rain, these probably moving east through all areas during the day. Highs near a chillier 5 to 7C in the north and west, 11C in the south and east.
Friday 23/2/24 Friday is likely to be a brighter day. Sunny spells and showers, heaviest in western areas. Fewer showers in the east. Probably cooler for all. Highs at 5 to 7C.
Saturday 24/2/24 Probably a bright morning on Saturday. Rain may arrive in western areas later with a risk of gales. Highs near 6 to 9C.
