Milder and unsettled with wind and rain, then cooler and drier early next week

An unsettled start with cloud and periods of rain, some of it heavy. Strong winds too at times. Milder than recently. Hints of conditions settling down early next week and becoming drier again as well as a little cooler.

Saturday 9/12/23
Fronts passing east during Saturday morning. This brings rain and strong winds to many areas, some of the rain being heavy. The rain quickly clearing east in the morning although persisting through the day in central and northern Scotland. Heavy showers follows to western Scotland, Wales and western England as well as much of central and western Ireland. Gales in England, Wales and Ireland too. Highs at 8C in northern Scotland, 13C in southeast England.

Sunday 10/12/23
Low pressure remains in control on Sunday. Bands of cloud and rain driving eastwards with fronts, the winds being strong at times as well. Severe gales may occur locally in parts of Ireland and Scotland. Temperatures staying mild for most with highs at 14C in the south, cooler in northern Scotland at 6C.


Monday 11/12/23
Pressure is low again through Monday. Showery periods of rain for much of Ireland, Wales, southern and central England. Brighter for Scotland and northern England as well as Northern Ireland. Highs at 7 to 12C.


Tuesday 12/12/23
Fronts passing south on Tuesday. This takes a band of rain through the country with brighter, cooler weather following from the north. A few showers in Scotland and northern England as well as Ireland, these wintry over the hills. Highs at 4C in northern Scotland, 9C in southern England.

Wednesday 13/12/23
A ridge of high pressure builds through Wednesday. This brings a cooler day with sunny spells. Some wintry showers affecting eastern Scotland and eastern England. Otherwise dry and bright after a morning frost. Tops at 5 to 8C.

Thursday 14/12/23
Higher pressure remains through Thursday. A morning frost and some fog for England, Wales and Ireland and then a dry and bright day with sunny spells. Cloud and some outbreaks of rain in the far north of Scotland. Tops near 4 to 8C.
