Unsettled with rain and showers, then turning colder and showery later in the week with more sunshine

Conditions stay unsettled for the next few days. Periods of rain will pass from west to east, followed by showers. Turning cooler by the end of the week and then a mix of some sunny spells and showers into the weekend. An increasing risk of overnight frosts later this week and weekend too.

Thursday 22/2/24
An area of heavy showers and rain affects England and Wales on Thursday morning as low pressure moves through. It could be that this rain brings about some localised flooding in more prone areas. Brighter with sunny spells in Scotland and Ireland although some heavy showers in the west. The rain should be clearing eastern coasts of England by early afternoon and then most places are drier with sunny spells. Some showers still in western Scotland and Ireland. Feeling cooler for all. Highs at 5 to 8C.

Friday 23/2/24
Low pressure north of Scotland on Friday. Showers in western areas as well as some sunny spells. Brighter in the east with the best sunshine here. The showers turning increasingly wintry over the hills of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. Highs at 5 to 8C.


 

Saturday 24/2/24
Pressure remains low on Saturday. A morning frost and then a bright day with good spells of sunshine. Some showers may affect western and southern areas although these should be scattered. More showers in northern Scotland. Tops at 6 to 8C.



 
 
 

Sunday 25/2/24
Low pressure may pass into the south of the country on Sunday. This brings a windier day with periods of rain in southern areas. Drier for the north with the best sunshine in western Scotland. Feeling cold in the wind. Highs at 5 to 8C.



 
 
 

Monday 26/2/24
A chilly day in the northeast wind. This could be strong in southern areas. A risk of some rain in the far south but for most it should be dry. Best sunshine north and west, some showers in the east. Highs at 5 to 8C.

Tuesday 27/2/24
Fair for much of England and Wales after a morning frost. Good spells of sunshine here. Cloud and rain in northern Scotland with windier conditions. Tops at 7 to 10C.
