Wet and windy weekend then cooler and brighter next week

An unsettled few days ahead with wind and rain for all parts of the UK and Ireland. Low pressure bringing gales on Sunday with most rai in the north and west. Next week is showing signs of higher pressure building and conditions tending to improve with drier weather and sunny spells.

Saturday 30/9/17
Pressure will briefly build, bringing a bright day to most areas. A few showers are possible, mainly around western coasts and hills in the morning, this slipping east during the day. Highs 13 to 18C.

 

Sunday 1/10/17
An unsettled day is likely on Sunday, as a deep Atlantic low moves to the north of the British Isles. Heavy rain may become extensive, which may persist most of the day in western areas. Windy, possible gales in the west & north-west. Some eastern regions may escape dry for a time. Highs 12 to 17C.
 

Monday 2/10/17
A windy day is likely, with a risk of gales, especially in the north & west. Rain is likely to push through, but followed by showers, which may be frequent and heavy in the west and north. Sunny spells as the rain clears, but feeling cool. Highs 12 to 16C.

 
 
 

Tuesday 3/9/17
A brisk northwest flow develops on Tuesday. This is going to be bringing cool but mostly dry conditions across many southern and eastern areas with some reasonable spells of sunshine. Showers to the north and west, a few heavy around Scottish coasts. Highs at 12 to 17C.

Wednesday 4/9/17
A ridge of higher pressure is expected to be affecting most of the country through Wednesday. This brings drier weather with sunny spells. Winds are likely to be lighter for most, although still brisk in the east. Some cloud and drizzle may affect northwest Scotland as a weak front passes by. Highs at a milder 14 to 19C.

Thursday 5/9/17
Higher pressure may again be dominating on Thursday giving another fair day. There will be sunny spells and it should feel warm for most after a chilly start. Highs at 14 to 20C.
