A mixed weekend, severe gales in the west, warmer next week
A mixed weekend ahead as low pressure brings rain. This mostly affects the southeast on Saturday, then Ireland and Scotland on Sunday. Severe gales in the west too. Mixed into next week with the possibility of warm and humid weather returning. This could bring some thunderstorms with it, although hints of turning cooler and more unsettled again later in the week.

Sunday 11/9/16 A ridge of high pressure builds through England and Wales on Sunday. This brings dry weather to most, although with rather a lot of cloud in more western areas. Overall it is dry, although an odd spot of light rain can't be ruled out in the southwest and Wales. Severe gales and heavy rain spread into Ireland and much of Scotland, heavy in the west. Highs at 23C in southern England, 18C in western Scotland.
Monday 12/9/16 Low pressure northwest of Scotland on Monday pushes a front eastwards. This brings rain to much of Scotland and Northern Ireland, with the rain edging into, northwest and western England as well as western Wales later. Drier in the east with some sunny spells. Becoming brighter for much of western Scotland and Northern Ireland later in the day. Feeling warm again in southeast England at 25C, but fresher to the west at nearer 16C.
Tuesday 13/9/16 A weak ridge of high pressure builds through Tuesday. This should give a drier day for most with sunny spells. An odd shower and some cloud Scotland and Ireland as well as Wales and northern England. The best of any sunshine always tending to be to the south. Highs near 16 to 25C.
Wednesday 14/9/16 A risk of some thundery showers over more southern parts of England on Wednesday with lower pressure to the south. High pressure east of Scotland bringing dry weather and some sunny spells here. Tops at 27C in southern England, 17C in northern Scotland.
Thursday 15/9/16 A thundery area of low pressure south of the UK on Thursday, perhaps with low pressure to the west too. These may combine to bring some further thundery outbreaks of rain, mostly in the east. Highs at 17 to 28C.
Friday 16/9/16 Lower pressure may bring a more unsettled day for Friday. Periods of rain and showers could affect many areas with temperatures at 16 to 20C.
