Very warm for many at weekend

Mixed conditions for the next few days with wet and windy weather affecting northern and western areas at times. Turning very warm in the east and southeast at the weekend. Signals of cooler temperatures moving in later next week.

A broad southwest flow over the British Isles on Friday. Rain across Wales and northern England will gradually lift northwards through the day as pressure builds. Frequent showers and longer spells of rain across western Scotland where it will be breezy. Dry and fine and feeling mild across southern areas. Highs at 22C in southern England, 14C in northern Scotland.

Saturday 7/10/23
High pressure remains south of the country through Saturday. A fine day for many areas and becoming very warm too. Some drizzle and low cloud could affect the coasts of western Ireland and northwest Scotland. Breezy north and west too. Highs at 26C in southeast England, 14C in northwest Scotland and 23C in Ireland.

Sunday 8/10/23
Fine and very warm again for many areas on Sunday. A front brings cloud and rain into Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern regions of Ireland. Dry in other areas. Highs at 25C in eastern England, 16C in western Scotland and 22C in Ireland.

Monday 9/10/23
Monday sees a weak front across northern into central parts of England including parts of Wales could keep cloud and drizzle persistent across here. Drier and brighter further north here and to the south, though rain affecting northwest Scotland where it will be windy. Highs at 22C in southern England, 12C in northern Scotland.

Tuesday 10/10/23
Rain continues to affect northern and northwest Scotland on Tuesday. Variable cloud elsewhere with sunny spells. Some patchy rain across Wales into southern England but most will stay dry. Highs at 15 to 24C.

Wednesday 11/10/23
An active cold front moves south down the country on Wednesday bringing many spells of rain for a time. Clearing to the north with brighter, drier and cooler weather. Highs at 12 to 23C.
