Dry and warm for eastern areas, cooler and damp at times in the west

Higher pressure across the UK and Ireland through the coming week. The higher pressure is expected to be to the east bringing drier and brighter weather here. Western parts troubled by fronts from time to time bringing some outbreaks of rain. It is going to be warm in the sunshine but cooler in the coud and outbreaks of rain. Confidence in the forecast falls significantly early next week.

Saturday 2/9/17
Most likely staying fair for all, with a ridge of high pressure extending across the UK. Lots of sunshine and most places should be dry. A low risk of a shower in the far southeast. Cloud thickening in Ireland as fronts approaching bringing some rain here. A chilly start but then temperatures reaching 25C in southeast England, 18C in the cloudier parts of Ireland and western Scotland.


Sunday 3/9/17
High pressure likely to remain in charge across eastern areas, maintaining dry weather for these eastern parts. Fronts edging in from the Atlantic into Ireland and the far west of the UK bringing cloud, wind and rain. Cool overnight, especially rural areas. Warm sunshine by day. Highs 18 to 23C.
 


Monday 4/9/17
Staying largely dry in the east on Monday beneath higher pressure, although confidence of detail is low. Most eastern areas should see some sunshine. Scotland, Wales and more western parts of England may be cloudier with some outbreaks of showery rain here. Cool in the cloud and rain to the north and west, but warmer in the east. Highs at 16 to 24C.
 


Tuesday 5/9/17
Higher pressure is expected to reassert itself on Tuesday, probably as a ridge building from the east. This is likely to be bringing a dry day with some good spells of sunshine for many. Some cloud may affect more northern and western areas. Highs at 18 to 25C.


Wednesday 6/9/17
Low confidence in the forecast for Wednesday. Lower pressure may edge towards the west of Ireland bringing some cloud and outbreaks of rain here. Eastern areas may stay under the influence of the area of higher pressure with drier weather and some sunny spells here. Highs 17 to 25C.

Thursday 7/9/17
Confidence stays low with low pressure bringing cloud and the threat of some outbreaks of rain in southern Ireland and southwest England. Elsewhere higher pressure remains bringing a fair day with sunny spells. Highs at 17 to 24C.
