Warm & dry again
A mixed weekend

Issued: 0800 Friday 2nd September 2016
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

A mixed weekend then very warm and dry next week

Plenty of fine and dry weather around for next week and becoming very warm again too. It is likely to be feeling humid in the east, although western Scotland and Ireland should be fresher overall. Before then the weekend is expected to be mixed. Rain on Saturday could become heavy, but then brighter for Sunday although fresher with sunny spells.

Monday 5/9/16
Low pressure is expected to be centred to the northwest of Scotland on Monday. A ridge of high pressure to the south and east will be bringing the best of the dry weather to these areas. Becoming brighter during the day with sunny spells developing. Always more cloud affecting western parts of Scotland, and the western coasts of England and Wales as well as Ireland. Outbreaks of drizzle here with low cloud shrouding the hills. Becoming humid again in the south with tops of 24C, around 20C in Scotland.

Tuesday 6/9/16
High pressure centred to the east produces a warm southerly flow across the British Isles. Dry with plenty of sunshine for many. Early mist patches will clear from central areas, but murky conditions may linger in the west & south-west. Risk areas of drizzly rain west. Increasingly warm and humid, 22 to 26C inland, fresher near the coast.

Wednesday 7/9/16
A very warm day for much of the country, and feeling quite humid. High pressure remains to the east. Staying dry overall although some outbreaks of rain in central and northern Scotland. Temperatures 22 to 25C, perhaps reaching 27C in central-eastern areas.

Thursday 8/9/16
Thursday sees some cooler air drifting east through the UK and Ireland, perhaps triggering an odd thunderstorm in central and eastern areas. Drier and brighter weather follows from the west, although there could be some rain in western Scotland and western Ireland as a weak cold front arrives. Highs at 17 to 24C.

Friday 9/9/16
High pressure is expected to the east on Friday with a warm southerly flow for many. This may bring some cloud and drizzle to western coasts an hills, but overall it is going to be dry and sunny for many. Feeling fresher in western Scotland and Ireland, but humid in the east. Highs at 17 to 25C.

Saturday 10/9/16
Rain in western Scotland and Ireland as a cold front edges east. Drier in the east and south with sunny spells and dry conditions here. Temperatures reaching 27C in southeast England, 17C in western Scotland.
