A frosty start for many on Tuesday before a low pressure system to the northwest sends a frontal system across the UK and Ireland. It will be a mostly cloudy day with rain for most areas with the exceptions of eastern Scotland and northeastern England. Strong winds too for the northern half of the country, reaching gale force for northwestern Ireland and western and northern parts of Scotland. High temperatures at 6 to 12C.
Low pressure remains close by on Wednesday bringing a mixed day of sunny spells and showers. Showers will be mainly focussed in western areas though could spread across northern parts of England through the afternoon. Parts of Scotland could see these showers merging to form more prolonged spells of rain and they may turn wintry over higher ground. Windy for the island of Ireland and western Scotland. Highs at 4 to 10C.
Another unsettled day on Thursday as low pressure remains dominant. A westerly airstream will lead to a rather ovrecast day for most of the country with the exception of the south of England where it should remain dry and bright. Western areas could see persistent rain throughout the day while some showers could reach eastern parts of Scotland. Another breezy day for northern and western areas. High temperatures at 5 to 9C.
Mixed again on Friday. Low pressure may bring some rain followed by showers, most in the north and west. Drier east and south. Staying breezy. Highs at 7 to 11C.
Saturday sees the continuation of the unsettled theme as further fronts bring heavy rain and showers to the UK and Ireland. High temperatures at 7 to 12C.
Staying windy on Sunday in a westerly air flow that will bring prolonged outbreaks of rain to western areas. Drier and brighter in the east. Highs at 6 to 11C.
