Unsettled with wind and rain at times, staying chilly too

Unsettled weather throughout the coming week. Low pressure will be bringing showers or longer spells of rain to all places, together with a risk of gales at times. Generally staying quite chilly. Staying unsettled into the weekend with more rain and showers.

Wednesday 5/5/21
Low pressure remains east of England on Wednesday. The northwest flow brings a further mix of sunshine and showers. These showers could be heavy at times, especially in the east. The showers tending to ease through the afternoon with the best of any sunshine tending to be across Northern Ireland, southern Scotland and parts of Wales and western England. Increasing cloud through Ireland and southwest England later. More persistent rain may affect northern Scotland. Highs at 8 to 11C.


Thursday 6/5/21
An area of low pressure passes through the Channel on Thursday. This brings cloud and periods of rain, some of it heavy to southern counties of England. Drier and brighter further north, although some heavy showers and longer spells of rain in central and northern Scotland, wintry on the hills. Highs at just 7C in the rain in the far south of England and through Scotland, generally 9 to 11C.


Friday 7/5/21
A northwest flow across the UK and Ireland on Friday. There will be a mix of sunny spells and a scattering of showers, mostly in the north and east. Drier in western areas with more sunshine here. Highs at 9 to 13C.

Saturday 8/5/21
Low pressure southwest of Ireland on Saturday brings an area of strong winds and rain through many areas. The rain will be heaviest in the west with a risk of gales here. Drier and brighter in the far north of Scotland. Becoming more drizzly in southeastern England. Highs at 6 to 8C in many central and northern areas, 15C in the far south, and chilly in northern Scotland too.

Sunday 9/5/21
Low pressure is likely to be over the UK and Ireland on Sunday. Some uncertainty over where the low pressure is located, and this difference in location will have a big impact on temperatures. Generally it is expected to be cloudy with periods of rain and showers. Highs around 8 to 12C.

Monday 10/5/21
Low pressure remains on Monday. Another unsettled day with showers or longer spells of rain at times. Highs at 9 to 14C.
