Cold and unsettled with rain at times, perhaps drier early next week
Conditions will be remaining cold through the rest of this week. There will be rain and showers, some of these heavy at times. The heaviest of the rain in more northern areas with a risk of some snow on hills. Next week stays cold with further mixed conditions, although it may be drier for some early in the week.

Low pressure clears to the south of the country on Sunday. This is going to be bringing periods of rain to southeastern parts of England, although this eases through the morning. Drier weather in Scotland and northern England as well as much of Ireland. Cloud building from the west bringing rain to western Ireland through the late afternoon. Cold for all. Highs around 2 to 8C.
Low pressure to the northwest sends a band of heavy rain from west to southeast across the UK on Monday. Showery conditions follow behind this to the west for much of Ireland and western parts of the UK. A risk of snow showers in northwest Scotland. Highs at 3 to 8C.
Low pressure north of Scotland on Tuesday. Another cloudy day with showers in northern and western Scotland. Showers, some of them heavy, may merge to give longer spells of rain over northern and western coasts of England, Ireland, Wales and Northern Ireland too. Drier in the east and south where there will be sunny spells. Temperatures at 4 to 7C.
Low pressure continues to dominate the weather with at least two centres circulating around the UK and Ireland on Wednesday. Low confidence in detail but outbreaks of rain, showers and strong winds are expected. Generally drier and brighter to the east. Highs at 4 to 8C.
Low pressure may slide east on Thursday bringing a northeasterly air flow to the British Isles. A mostly dry and bright day though showers, some of them persistent, affecting coastal areas. High temperatures at 4 to 8C.
Friday may see high pressure build once more across the UK and Ireland bringing a mostly dry and fine day. A risk of morning mist and fog patches with occasional showers over western areas. Highs at 3 to 7C.
