After a warm start turning colder and brighter as well as drier into the weekend
Mixed conditions at first this week with some periods of rain and strong winds. Warmth continues for some for a couple of days before colder air sweeps south through all areas in the middle and later stages of the week. Turning drier into the weekend with a risk of some overnight ground frost.

Thursday 12/10/23 An aging front across the far south of England on Thursday bringing cloud and some drizzle or patchy rain here. A ridge of high pressure delivers dry weather and sunny spells to other areas. Low pressure northwest of Scotland but mostly dry apart from an occasional showers in the far northwest. Windy in northern Scotland too. Highs at 11C to 14C for most but 18C over the far south.
Friday 13/10/23 Low pressure in control of conditions over the British Isles on Friday. Heavy periods of rain passing east through England, Wales and southern Ireland. The rain turning lighter and more patchy in Ireland, central and western England and Wales. Brighter for northern England, most of Ireland and Scotland although a few showers in the north and west. Mild south at 22C in the east of England, 10C in northern Scotland.
Saturday 14/10/23 A colder northwest flow over the British Isles on Saturday with high pressure west and low pressure east. A bright, chilly day with some showers in northern Scotland, these potentially wintry on hills. Cloudier Northern Ireland and parts of northern England. Highs at 14C in southeast England, 7C in northern Scotland.
Sunday 15/10/23 High pressure west of Ireland on Sunday. The cold, north to northwest flow continues bringing mostly dry weather. Showers though over northern Scotland, a risk of some showers in the east too. These falling as snow and sleet on hills in Scotland. Good spells of sunshine. Tops at 7C in northern Scotland, 12C in southern England.
Monday 16/10/23 High pressure remains through Monday. A chilly and bright day with lots of sunshine. Breezy in the south. Highs at 7 to 13C.
Tuesday 17/10/23 High pressure over the east on Tuesday. Lower pressure west of Ireland. A breezy day with some good spells of sunshine in northern areas, some more cloud in the west and south. Windy west and south. Highs at 12 to 17C.
