Turning colder and more unsettled later in the week, hill sleet and snow
A odd fair day early this week but things are set to be turning colder and more unsettled from Thursday onwards. Conditions may feel wintry towards the weekend with showers turning to sleet and snow over high ground, mainly in northern England, Wales and Scotland. Overnight frosts are likely too.

Wednesday 28/2/24 A ridge of high pressure builds through the British Isles on Wednesday. This brings a morning frost and then dry weather with good spells of sunshine. Cloud is going to be increasing from the west, spilling east in the afternoon. A few showers in western Scotland with more persistent rain into Ireland through the morning and afternoon as cloud increases for all later. Highs at 8 to 12C.
Thursday 29/2/24 A deep area of low pressure develops north of Scotland on Thursday. Fronts push eastwards bringing some heavy bursts of showery rain. Most of the rain will be in the west in the morning, then followed by a drier, brighter afternoon. However, always some showers on western coasts. Highs near 8 to 11C then turning colder from the west later.
Friday 1/3/24 Low pressure settled over the British Isles on Friday. Another unsettled day, turning colder with rain and showers. The precipitation turning wintry over the hills of central and northern England and Scotland. Highs at 4 to 7C.
Saturday 2/3/24 Low pressure is over the British Isles again on Saturday. Another cold day. Areas of showers merging to longer spells of rain with sleet and snow on hills, especially in central and northern areas. Tops of 3 to 6C.
Sunday 3/3/24 Pressure stays low on Sunday. Some showers in the west. A drier day is likely in more eastern areas. Tops at a less cold 6 to 9C.
Monday 4/3/24 Rain in western areas for Monday but probably dry in the north and east at first. Cloud increases through the day. Highs near 9 to 11C.
