Threat of mid week thundery showers

This week sees temperatures becoming quite hot as we import air from Spain. A warm front spreads rain in across the country Monday and there is the threat of a few heavy, thundery showers working their way up from France into Britain on Thursday, though confidence is low on the detail. The end of the week sees rain confined to the north and west at times.

Very warm to hot with lots of sunshine across England, more cloudy for Wales and northern England. Mainly dry for most, just a few showers possible across northern England. In the evening there is a risk of showers moving into central England then into the north east. There may be locally heavy with a risk of a thunderstorm. Expect high temperatures of 18 to 31C.

It continues hot with a chance of a few heavy, thundery showers across central and eastern parts of England, though confidence in the pattern is low. Largely dry across the north and the west. Highs of 18 to 31C.

Warm but no quite as hot today. A ridge of high pressure brings a fine, dry day with lots of sunshine expected right across the United Kingdom. A fine, dry evening and night to come. Highs of 18 to 24C.

Temperatures are rising again to above normal. Morning mist and fog clears to sunny skies. A front may bring in rain to Northern Ireland and northern Scotland. Highs of 17 to 25C.

 
 
 

Sunday 28/08/16
Very warm with a risk of rain and showers in the north and the west. Fine and sunny across the east and the south but increasingly cloudy. Highs of 20 to 27C.

Monday 29/08/16
Central and eastern parts of England are expected to stay dry, sunny and warm but outbreaks of rain and drizzle may affect western parts along with all of Scotland. Highs of 20 to 27C.
