Turning warmer through the weekend, perhaps hot early next week ahead of a thundery breakdown

A mixed end to the week with temperatures starting to rise across more southern parts. The weekend sees warmer weather arriving for all. Apart from some drizzle in the west on Saturday, but generally dry and very warm as we head into the early part of the new week. The risk of a thundery breakdown through the early to middle stages of next week.

Friday 12/8/16
High pressure stays to the south on Friday with low pressure to the north. A cld front slips south through Scotland and into Ireland bringing some showery outbreaks of rain with it. Turning brighter with a few showers in northern and western Scotland. Dry for England and Wales with further spells of sunshine to come here. Staying dry as well. Temperatures rising to around 17 to 26C.


Saturday 13/8/16
Higher pressure builds over the UK and Ireland on Saturday. The weak cold front is likely to be over northern England, north Wales and southern Ireland bringing cloud and some spots of showery rain. A few showers in northern and western Scotland but generally drier, brighter here. Fine and sunny to the south. Tops near 15C in northern Scotland, 27C in southeast England.


Sunday 14/8/16
High pressure is expected to be centred over the country on Sunday. This should bring a fair day for many. Plenty of sunshine and feeling warm as well. Some low cloud and rain may affect central and southern Ireland, as well as the west and north of Wales and northwest England. Highs at 17 to 29C.
 


Monday 15/8/16
High pressure is expected to be to the east on Monday with lower pressure to the west. The day is likely to be dry for most with good spells of sunshine. It may become hot in central and eastern areas. Highs at 20 to 28C.


Tuesday 16/8/16
Low pressure remains to the west on Tuesday, higher pressure to the east. It will be very warm and possibly hot for some, especially in the east. There is an increasing risk of some thunderstorms breaking out in the afternoon, with more persistent rain reaching Ireland and western Scotland. Highs at 21 to 30C.

Wednesday 17/8/16
A more unsettled day is likely as low pressure passes through Ireland bringing cloud and periods of rain. This rain may also affect Scotland and much of Wales and western England. Possibly drier east and south. Highs at 17 to 28C.
