Sunny spells and showers, becoming fresher in the north, perhaps drier by the end of the week

Showers this week with a strong northeast wind on some days. Tending to be drier in the northwest from mid week as fresher air arrives. Much uncertainty in the forecast from later in the week although at this time it is expected to become drier.

Thursday 5/9/24
Cloud and some showers in England, Wales and Ireland. The showers heaviest in central and southern areas. Probably drier in Scotland with some sunny spells, although some showers in the south. Confidence is low in the forecast for Thursday. Highs at 15 to 19C.


 

Friday 6/9/24
Low pressure to the south of the country on Friday. This brings a northeast wind and some cloud and showers in England and Wales, most east and south. Drier and brighter in the north and west with sunny spells here. Cooler eastern coasts, warmer west. Highs at 17 to 24C.


 

Saturday 7/9/24
A northeast flow again over the British Isles on Saturday. The risk of som showers in the east and south. Drier west and north again with the best of the sunshine here. Highs at 16 to 23C.



 
 
 

Sunday 8/9/24
A ridge if higher pressure building on Sunday. This should give a mostly dry day with sunny spells. Some cloud and spots of rain in the far north of Scotland and a few showers in the southeast. Highs at 15C in northern Scotland, 22C in southern England.



 
 
 

Monday 9/9/24
Higher pressure may remain through Monday although with low confidence. Many should be dry with sunny spells. Some cloud and a few spots of rain in northern Scotland. Tops at 17 to 21C.

Tuesday 10/9/24
Higher pressure remains through Tuesday. This should bring a fair day with sunny spells and dry conditions. Highs at 18 to 23C.
