Settling down
Frost and fog north

Issued: 1000hrs Monday 21st November 2016

Feeling like November

After the wet and stormy conditions at the start of this week, the weather pattern will become much quieter as this week progresses. High pressure will build across the country, bringing largely dry weather, but a lot of cloud, and some stubborn fog, particularly in northern regions. Temperatures generally cool.

Thursday 24/11/16
High pressure centred across northern Britain. A frosty start for Scotland, Northern Ireland & far north of England. Some fog patches, may persist across central Scotland. Dry for most of the country. Risk of a few drizzly showers along the south coast. A brisk easterly breeze for southern Britain, but very light winds elsewhere. Cloudy for many, but some sunshine in the west & north. Highs 4 to 8C, locally 10C in south.

Friday 25/11/16
Little change to the weather pattern. Dry almost everywhere across Britain and Ireland. Chance of patchy drizzly rain along the south coast, perhaps also in the far north of Scotland. Cloudy in the east, brighter in Wales & the west. Fog may persist across central Scotland, also Northern Ireland. Frosty in the north. A fresh easterly breeze in south should prevent a frost for central & southern Britain. Highs 4 to 9C.

Saturday 26/11/16
Settled weather is very likely to continue. High pressure centred across northern Britain maintains an easterly flow across the south. Frost and fog in the north. Cloudy in the east, brighter toward the west. Risk a little drizzle toward south-western coasts. Highs 4 to 9C.

Sunday 27/11/16
Continued fair weather across Britain and Ireland. A slack easterly flow will bring a lot of cloud into central & eastern regions, perhaps occasional drizzly showers extending inland from the North Sea. Frost and fog patches across northern Britain. Highs 4 to 10C.

Monday 28/11/16
High pressure is expected to drift eastwards away from Britain. A south-easterly flow developing. Cloudy for many. Patchy drizzle, but amounts small. Some lingering fog patches. Slight frost. Highs 5 to 10C.

Tuesday 29/11/16
Subtle changes to the weather pattern may bring fronts into the north-west, with a little rain arriving. Slack pressure should maintain fairly benign and dull conditions for many places. Highs 6 to 10C.
