Saturday 16/12/23
High pressure to the south of the UK and low pressure to the north, will give a tight gradient on the isobars, resulting in a strong southwesterly flow across the country. That means that Saturday will see a rather cloudy day especially away from south and east England, with some rain or drizzle over northwest Scotland. This may get persistent and heavy across Sutherland and Wester Ross in the afternoon. Windy in north and west with coastal gales, but just breezy elsewhere. A mild day with maximums of around 10C-11C.

Sunday 17/12/23
Much of the country remaining fairly dry but rather cloudy, with any chance of sunny spells across southeast England. Outbreaks of rain over west Scotland and possible northwest England this heavy and persistent in the morning and afternoon. Through the evening a band of rain will push southeast, clearing quickly from most areas. Windy in north and west, with coastal gales. Another mild day with temperature rising up to double figures across most parts.

Monday 18/12/23
A mixed day for most with thick cloud at times and outbreak of mostly light rain. Best of the drier and possible brighter weather in far eastern parts of England. Later in the evening rain will clear for most, with blustery showers following behind, these mostly over Scotland. As the air will get colder some wintriness is expected over the Highlands. A breezy day for most, but strong winds for the northwest.Temperature will rise up to 10-12C, but a colder night will follow for Scotland.

Tuesday 19/12/23
A mix of bright spells and frequent showers across most parts of the country, away from the southeast where it will be drier. Showers may be thundery over Scotland with some snow falling even down to lower levels there. Winds will turn northwesterly with falling temperatures and an early maximum of 7-8C.

Wednesday 20/12/23
A showery day for most, with showers more frequent and blustery across north Scotland where there is a risk for thunderstorms too. Showers may be wintry even down to lower levels over Scotland. Becoming drier from the afternoon onwards. Once the drier brighter conditions are expected over southern England. Windy with tops of 3C in north but 5C in south.
