Becoming more unsettled with rain and showers mostly in the north and west, windy at times too
Becoming more unsettled as the week progresses. There will be some drier days but also some days of strong winds and rain. Most rain in Scotland and Ireland, a risk of gales in the west. Feeling warm in any sunshine in the east and south. Some cooler nights.

Tuesday 20/8/24 Fronts pass east on Tuesday taking cloud and rain across East Anglia and southeast England, clearing eastwards. A further band of showery rain over northern England, Wales and western England, this too steadily passing east. Brighter and drier weather follows to the north and west with sunny spells. Some showers in western Scotland and northwest Ireland. Gales in western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Highs at 24C in southern England, 17C as the brighter weather arrives north and west.
Wednesday 21/8/24 Low pressure west of Scotland on Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure builds through England and Wales. Dry weather for many and the best sunshine in central and southern and eastern parts. Rain in western Scotland and Northern Ireland, showers over western Ireland. Windy in Ireland and Scotland. Tops at 15C in northern Scotland, 23C in southern England.
Thursday 22/8/24 A wet and windy day over Scotland and Ireland for Thursday with strong winds too. A few spots of rain in west Wales, but most of Wales and England and dry with bright or sunny spells, most in the east. Highs at 26C in East Anglia, 18C in Ireland and eastern Scotland, 14C in western Scotland.
Friday 23/8/24 Low pressure west of Scotland on Friday. More rain and strong winds in Ireland and Scotland. Drier for other areas with sunny spells, but the rain arriving in western areas. Highs at 26C in southeast England, 17C in Ireland and eastern Scotland.
Saturday 24/8/24 Low pressure remains north of Scotland on Saturday. Heavy showers, some prolonged over northern and western Scotland as well as much of western England and Wales. Drier and brighter with fewer showers in eastern and southern areas. Breezy with highs at 15 to 23C.
Sunday 25/8/24 A bright day with some sunny spells for most, the best in central and eastern areas. Showers in the west, some of them heavy. Highs at 15 to 23C.
