Mild in south

Issued: 0900hrs Thursday 7th December 2023
Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

An unsettled few days

Atlantic weather systems dominate this weekend and early next week, producing wet and windy spells across Britain and Ireland. Some drier intervals, but many places will see rain at some point each day. Feeling much milder than recent times thanks to the southwesterly winds.

Sunday 10/12/23
Low pressure pushes in from the west bringing heavy rain and strong winds. Eastern England and Scotland start dry, but rain sweeps eastwards across Britain during the day. Mild temperatures in the south 11 to 14C, cooler north at 6 to 9C.

Monday 11/12/23
Staying mixed with areas of rain and showers circulating around centres of low pressure. Another zone of more frequent rain may move in from the southwest. Driest and brightest for east and southeast England, may stay dry much of the day. Breezy in the south, lighter winds north. Mildest in the southeast. Highs 7 to 12C.

Friday 15/12/23
