Wet and windy start in the south, becoming humid then more unsettled next week

A mixed week with low pressure south of the country over the coming days. This brings a spell of strong winds and heavy rain. Most rain in southern areas of England and Wales where there could be some localised flooding. Tending to be brighter and drier further north. After a few cool days it becomes very warm fro a time before turning more unsettled and cooler next week.

Saturday 7/9/24
A weak front through England and Wales on Saturday bringing more cloud and some humid conditions. Cloud and showers close to the front, a chance of these being thundery in central areas in the afternoon. Staying cloudy in the far south with some drizzle or rain along the coast as well as mist and fog. Brighter for Scotland, northern England and Ireland, sunny spells here and mostly dry, although some fog in northern Scotland and southeast coasts of Ireland. Highs at 17C in southwest England in any mist and fog, more generally 21 to 24C.

Sunday 8/9/24
Low pressure off southern England on Sunday. More cloud and rain for the south, some heavy and thundery close to the coasts. Cloud and some rain in eastern Ireland, Wales and northern England. Generally brighter in Scotland. Another humid day with highs at 19 to 23C.


 

Monday 9/9/24
Low pressure is still south of the country on Monday but drifting east. This takes cloud and showery rain with it away from southern and eastern England. A few showers in the west but bright overall with good spells of sunshine. Highs at 16C in northern Scotland, 23C in eastern England.


 

Tuesday 10/9/24
A north to northwest flow through the country on Tuesday. Rain in northwest Scotland and Ireland. For other areas it should be mostly dry with sunny spells although scattered showers cannot be ruled out. Highs at 12C in northwest Scotland, 22C in southern England.


 

Wednesday 11/9/24
Low pressure north of Scotland on Wednesday. This brings a cool day of bright spells but also some heavy showers. Most showers in the north and west. A breezy day too. Temperatures at 11 to 15C in the north and west, 19C in the east.

Thursday 12/9/24
Low pressure stays northwest of Scotland on Thursday. Further showers for Scotland and Ireland as well as northwest England and west Wales. Brighter further south and east with fewer showers. Tops at 11 to 18C.
