An unsettled week with rain and showers, some of it heavy
An unsettled week ahead with showers and periods of rain as low pressure takes control. The rain and showers could be heavy at times, a risk of thunder too. Temperatures are likely to be close to average, although cooler in the north and west. The weekend looks set to remain unsettled too.

Low pressure is east of the UK on Thursday. Sunny spells and scattered showers for much of England and Wales. Most of the showers in Wales and western England. Heavier showers in western and northern Ireland, some thundery. More cloud and some rain or showers in northern and eastern Scotland. Temperatures at 21C in southeast England, 13C in Ireland and 14 to 16C in western areas of the UK.
Low pressure extends north to south through the UK and Ireland. This gives an unsettled day with rain and showers for many. The rain could be heavy and thundery in the south and southeast, with further bursts of heavy rain or showers in western Scotland and Ireland. The showers more scattered elsewhere. Highs at 15 to 18C.
Low pressure is again expected to be in control of the weather throughout Saturday. It is likely to be an unsettled day. Periods of rain, some heavy. Windy for some too. There is uncertainty over exactly where most rain will be. Highs at a cool 10 to 13C in rain, 17C in any brightness to the south.
Low pressure remains in control through Sunday. This brings another unsettled day with periods of rain, some heavy and thundery. Uncertainty again in the detail of the forecast. Tops at 14 to 19C.
The area of low pressure continues to affect the UK and Ireland on Monday. The day is likely to be one of sunshine and showers, some heavy and thundery in the north and west. Tops at 15 to 21C.
Unsettled weather remains on Tuesday with heavy showers or longer periods of rain. The rain could be thundery. Highs at 16 to 20C.
