Fairly unsettled through to New Year

After a mild, grey and wet for many Christmas, an improving story for Boxing Day, then it's looking unsettled again into midweek with rain and hill snow in the mix.

Low pressure spirals toward the North Sea, strong winds for many - westerly in the south, turning northerly for the north, risk of gales especially in the northeast of Britain. Areas of rain and heavy showers, snow over the hills in northern England and Scotland, possibly to some lower ground for periods. Highs 3 to 9C.


Friday 29/12/23
A possible window of drier weather, but further rain moves in from the southwest, possibly hill snow locally. Varied winds. Highs 3 to 8C.

Complex low pressure circulates over southern Britain. Showery rain and some hill snow. Feeling cool, variable winds. Highs 3 to 8C.

 
 
 


Sunday 31/12/23
Staying mixed, a risk of fronts coming back in from the west bringing further rain, but some milder air. Highs 5 to 10C.

Monday 01/01/24
Unsettled southwesterlies with rain in the north and west. Drier south and east. Highs 7 to 12C.

Spells of rain move in from the west on strong winds. Fairly mild overall. Highs 7 to 12C.
