A cooler week, unsettled with rain and gales at times this weekend
Much cooler temperatures as we go through the weekend and into next week. Low pressure is going to be making its presence felt and that will be bringing a strong winds and rain. Cooler next week with sunny spells and showers, some of them wintry over the high ground of Scotland.

Turning more unsettled on Saturday as fronts pass eastwards. These bring rain overnight, before clearing on Saturday morning to leave much of central and eastern England and Scotland with a bright, dry and windy start to the day. A further area of rain, some of it heavy, will already be crossing Ireland and heading into the west of the UK. This area of rain and wind then spills east through the afternoon. Showers then following into the west. Gales in the west, possibly severe in Ireland and western Scotland. Tops at 8 to 12C.
Low pressure dominates again on Sunday. Rain will be affecting southern parts of England, Wales and Ireland, this heavy at times.Brighter in northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland although showers affecting northern and western coasts. Highs at 11C in southern England, 6 to 8C in most of Wales, northern England, Scotland and Ireland.
An unsettled day on Monday as a cool westerly airflow affects the country. There will be showers, some frequent in western areas. Rain may affect southwest England and southern Ireland. Showers wintry on hills of Scotland and the northern Pennines. Brighter to the north and east. Highs at 6 to 10C.
A cool feel to the day on Tuesday, but bright. Showers affecting western and northern areas as low pressure is north of Scotland. A risk of some sleet and snow over the hills of Scotland. Brighter in the east with sunny spells. Highs at 4 to 8C.
A slack pressure flow on Wednesday. Scattered showers and sunny spells, any showers falling as sleet and snow in Scotland. Highs at 4 to 9C.
A cool day under a ridge of high pressure. Sunny spells and dry. Some thicker cloud in the far south with a risk of some rain here. Highs at 4 to 9C.
