Yet more rain ahead, most in the west, staying unsettled into next week

The unsettled weather is going to be continuing during the coming week. Rain will be mostly affecting western areas, and this could enhance the flooding risk in areas which are already suffering. Temperatures generally cooler in the northern half of the UK and Ireland, but milder generally to the south.

Sunday 13/12/15
Low pressure west of Ireland on Sunday with a warm front passing north. This brings more rain into Ireland, Wales and western England, some heavy once again. Drier although mostly cloudy in the south as the front clears north, but some drizzle over western and southern coasts and hills. Drier too in Scotland, but then rain arriving from the south, most in the west. Tops at 6 to 12C.

Monday 14/12/15
Low pressure to the west of Ireland pushes fronts eastwards on MOnday. This brings cloud and rain, some of it heavy at times. Showers further west, and windy too. Highs at 7 to 14C.



 
 
 

Tuesday 15/12/15
More fronts passing north through Tuesday brings a further risk of rain. Most of this in more western areas with the east seeing only a few spots. Highs at a mild 7 to 11C.

 
 
 

Wednesday 16/12/15
Possibly drier for Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure builds. This gives drier conditions with some sunny spells, but rain may return to the west later. Highs at a cool 6C in northern Scotland, 10C in southern England.

Thursday 17/12/15
More fronts passing east on Thursday are likely to be bringing rain with them. The rain could be heavy in the west, becoming milder too. Highs at 8 to 12C.

Friday 18/12/15
Wet and windy conditions on Friday as fronts again pass eastwards. Highs near 7 to 10C.
