Localised showers

After a mixed start to this week with some thundery rain, the outlook is more settled again from midweek as high pressure is expected to rebuild over the British Isles. Some pleasant late summer days, but dropping quite cool overnight.

Wednesday 4/9/24
A ridge of high pressure to the southwest brings a fair day with sunny spells for most areas. A risk of some showers in western parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland with westerly breezes here. Further showers could occur in southwest England. Light northerly breezes for southern Britain. Highs up to 23C in southern England, 18 to 21C in central and northern England and Wales, also Ireland, 15 to 18C Scotland, coolest in the northwest.

Thursday 5/9/24
A ridge of high pressure extends through the British Isles to give mostly dry conditions with sunny spells. Isolated showers possible in western Scotland and Ireland, also near the English Channel, here with a fresh east to northeasterly breeze. Highs 19 to 23C, warmest in southern areas, but cooler 15 to 17C in northwest Scotland and Northern Ireland.
 

Friday 6/9/24
Pressure remains high. Mostly fair during the day with good spells of sunshine and dry conditions. Chance of showers in the far south of England. A possible fresher westerly breeze in northern Scotland bringing some rain to the northwest and the North & Western Isles. Highs 19 to 24C, warmest central areas.
 

Saturday 7/9/24
Pressure stays fairly high. Variable cloud but good spells of sunshine. Chance of isolated showers. Winds generally light. Highs 20 to 25C.

Sunday 8/9/24
Many places stay fine with sunny spells. A fresher westerly breeze in the north and west, may bring some patchy rain to northwest Scotland. Highs 18 to 24C.
