Southwesterly winds prevail

A mixed spell of weather with rain at times but also some dry and very warm conditions. Rain most frequent toward the northwest, whilst southeastern Britain will be often drier. Temperatures into the low 20s on some days.

Wednesday 4/10/23
Low pressure to the north of Scotland, a ridge of higher pressure to the south. Spells of rain and showers for western Scotland, Northern Ireland and northwest England. Patchy light showers for west Wales. Largely dry and bright for south and eastern England. Also mostly dry in eastern Scotland. Fresh westerly winds for all. Highs 14 to 18C.
 

Thursday 5/10/23
High pressure centred to the south. Southwesterly winds, strongest toward the northwest. Rain for western Scotland and Ireland. A little drizzly rain for western coasts and hills of England and Wales with extensive low cloud. Cloudy for many, but brighter toward the east and south with sunny spells. Highs 15 to 20C, warmest in east.
 

Friday 6/10/23
Southwesterly winds and fronts bring heavy rain to Ireland, western Scotland, and northwest England. Windy here too with gales near coasts. Drizzly for west Wales. Drier for central, south & eastern England, feeling warm. Highs 20C in southeast England, 15C in northern Scotland.
 

Saturday 7/10/23
High pressure centred toward the southeast maintains a warm southerly airflow. Fair for most with sunny spells. Cloud and some rain for northwest Scotland and western Ireland. Breezy in the west and north. Highs 17 to 23C, warmest east.

Sunday 8/10/23
A cold front is expected to move eastwards, bringing a risk of rain for western England and Wales. Showery and cooler for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Staying dry and warm for east and southeast England. Highs 15C northwest, 24C southeast.

Monday 9/10/23
Fresher for all with westerly breezes. Showery rain in the west and northwest. Rain is likely to clear from the southeast to leave bright spells for England and Wales. Highs 13 to 19C.
