Dry for many at first, few showers then a slip towards cool and mixed weather at the weekend

A slow slip towards more mixed conditions as this week progresses. There will be much dry weather at first, but then showers on Tuesday for many. These showers becoming confined to Scotland until the weekend when things may be turning more mixed or unsettled.

Tuesday 4/6/24
A front passing south on Tuesday bringing rain to Scotland, Ireland and northern England in the early morning. This then passes through Wales and the Midlands in the afternoon, reaching southern areas of England late afternoon and evening. Brighter weather follows to the north of the rain band, although some heavy showers developing in Scotland and the north and west of Ireland. A brisk northwesterly wind. Highs at 9C in northern Scotland, 19C in southern England, typically 15 to 17C for most.

Wednesday 5/6/24
High pressure south of the British Isles on Wednesday. Fair for most of England, Wales and Ireland with sunny spells, just a scattered shower on hills. More mixed in Scotland with some showers in the north and west, although drier east and south. Cool in the north and west with highs at just 10C in northern Scotland, 19C in southeast England.


Thursday 6/6/24
Sunshine and showers for Thursday in Scotland, northern England and Ireland. Fair for the southern half of England, Wales and southern Ireland with sunny spells. Highs at 12C in northern Scotland, 19C in southern England.


Friday 7/6/24
More rain and showers in Scotland on Friday, mostly in central and northern areas. Fair in the south with sunny spells. The rest of England, Wales and Ireland should be fair with some sunny spells. Highs at 13C in northern Scotland, 19C in southern England.


Saturday 8/6/24
Lower pressure may drift into Scotland on Saturday. This brings cloud and rain here, with further rain spreading to the north and west of Ireland. Brighter for England and Wales as well as southeast Ireland with sunny spells. Tops at 10C in northern Scotland, 20C in southern England.

Sunday 9/6/24
Low pressure east of the country on Saturday brings strong northwest winds and frequent showers as well as the risk of more persistent rain. Fewer showers to the south with the best sunny spells here. Highs at a chilly 9 to 15C.
