Cooler days ahead before becoming milder next week

A more unsettled few days ahead as low pressure brings cooler conditions and rain to many areas. It may be windy in Scotland at times with a risk of severe gales. Hints are that conditions become more benign next week and milder too. Drier to the east, although western areas tending to stay closer to fronts and so a higher risk of rain here.

Saturday 1/10/16
An area of low pressure is expected to be developing and passing eastwards through the UK on Saturday. This brings plenty fo cloud and outbreaks of rain and showers over much of England and Wales. A cool day too. Scattered showers in Scotland with some brighter spells too. Becoming brighter from the west, although still with a few showers on western coasts and hills. Highs near 12 to 16C.

Sunday 2/10/16
A ridge of high pressure builds on Sunday. This may lead to a cold, misty start for many. There could be some fog patches in places, although these lifting to leave a mostly fair day with sunny spells and variable cloud. Highs at 14 to 17C.

 
 
 

Monday 3/10/16
A more southerly flow on Monday with high pressure to the east and low pressure to the west. This is going to be bringing a mild day for all. Sunny spells in the east, but some rain in the west as a front arrives from the Atlantic. Highs at 15 to 19C.

 
 
 

Tuesday 4/10/16
Low pressure west of Scotland on Tuesday. A front slips into northern England, Wales and Ireland bringing some rain here. Southern and eastern England should be drier with some sunny spells developing. Highs near 14C in Scotland, 21C in southern England.

Wednesday 5/10/16
Some rain in eastern Scotland and northern England thanks to a weak front. The southerly flow continues bringing fair weather to most areas. A mild day with tops of 16 to 21C.

Thursday 6/10/16
A front over the west of the UK bringing soe cloud and outbreaks of rain here. Drier to the east with sunny spells and feeling warm too. Highs at 14 to 21C.
