Mixed with rain and showers, milder into the weekend

A fair day tomorrow, but then mixed for the rest of the week as low pressure areas stay west of Ireland. Eastern areas tending to be drier and brighter overall. Becoming mild. Indications of the weather turning more unsettled by the end of the forecast periods, slightly cooler with rain and showers.

Friday 27/12/19
Rain in the east on Friday morning as a front clears to the east. A ridge of high pressure builds into the west bringing drier weather and broken cloud. There will be some bright spells developing here and there, but western coasts and hills may stay cloudy with some drizzle and low cloud. Tops at 7 to 12C.

Saturday 28/12/19
A ridge of high pressure continues to affect eastern areas of the country. This brings plenty of dry weather with the best sunshine in the east. Thicker cloud and windier weather in the west with drizzle and patchy rain in Ireland and western Scotland. Highs at 7 to 12C.
 

Sunday 29/12/19
Cloud and rain in Scotland and Ireland on Sunday. It is going to be a breezy day with periods of rain in Scotland and Ireland too, drizzle in northwest England. Drier in eastern and southern England, breezy too. Highs at 9 to 13C.

 
 
 

Monday 30/12/19
Weakening fronts passing east on Monday. Low pressure to the north of Scotland, higher pressure to the south. Some cloud and outbreaks of rain in northern England and Wales as well as southwest England. Drier in eastern and southern parts of England. Showers in northern and western Scotland, some of them heavy. Highs at 8 to 13.

New Year's Eve 31/12/19
Probably dry for many areas on New Year's Eve. There could be some showers or rain in the far north of Scotland, these wintry on hills. A breezy day, highs near 4C in northern Scotland, 10C in southern England.

New Year's Day 1/1/20
A fair start to the New Year. However, cloud and rain as well as strong winds look like quickly spreading from the west. Highs at 5 to 9C.
