Varying temperatures, milder south but colder north, mixed weather for all

A changeable week ahead with some wide variations in temperatures. Unsettled at the end of the week and through the weekend with rain and showers. The showers may briefly turn wintry over hills of northern and western hills for a time on Friday. Milder with plenty of cloud over the weekend and some periods of rain too. Drier and cooler weather developing into next week with more unsettled weather in Scotland later.

Saturday 27/3/21
A weak ridge of high pressure brings a brighter start to the day over much of the country, although some cloud and outbreaks of drizzle and low cloud affecting hills of southern England and Wales. The best of the sunshine in eastern areas. Cloud increases through Ireland and western Scotland bringing rain for the afternoon, this turning more persistent in western Ireland with the winds increasing to gale force. Drizzle over high ground of northwest England and western Wales as well as southwest England later. Highs at 9 to 11C.


Sunday 28/3/21
A moist southwesterly flow across all areas of the country on Sunday. There will be outbreaks of rain and drizzle in Wales and England, most of it in the west. Drizzle and low cloud along coasts and hills of southern England. More persistent rain and showers in western Scotland, but drier in the east. A breezy day with highs at 9 to 12C.
 


Monday 29/3/21
A broad southwest flow continues over the UK and Ireland on Monday. This is going to be bringing plenty of cloud. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the west, some of it heavy over parts of Ireland and the western coasts and England, Wales and southwest Scotland. Tending to be drier in the east. Further drizzle and rain affecting southern coasts and hills of England. Mild across central and eastern England. Windy with highs at 10 to 15C.

Tuesday 30/3/21
The southwest flow persists through Tuesday. Generally dry in much of central and eastern England where it will be feeling warm in sany sunshine too. Low cloud and drizzle affecting western and southern coasts of England and Wales. Wetter in Ireland and northern England as well as southern Scotland. Less rain in northern Scotland and colder here. Highs at 16C in southeast England, 7C in northern Scotland.

Wednesday 31/3/21
Some showery rain clearing from southern England on Wednesday. A ridge of high pressure builds bringing drier and brighter weather and feeling cooler too. Some rain and drizzle in northwest Scotland. Highs at 7 to 13C.

Thursday 1/4/21
Colder and unsettled in Scotland with rain here, turning to sleet and snow over high ground. Drier to the south with sunny spells and cooler too. Highs around 11C in southern England, 3C in central Scotland.
