A mixed week with some wind and rain north and west, but better east and south

A mixed week ahead. Mot of the rain in northern and western areas where the winds will be strong at times. Less rain in southern areas although there could be some low cloud and drizzle over coasts and hills. Mild for most, warm at times in the south.

Monday 2/10/23
Low pressure stays north of Scotland wth fronts extending through northern England, Wales and southern Ireland. Coud and periods of drizzle and rain here, low cloud covering the hills with fog over western coasts. A few bright or sunny spells in central and eastern areas where it will be feeling muggy. Brighter in Scotland and Ireland with some good spells of sunshine in eastern Scotland. Further showers in western Scotland, some heavy. Highs at 14C in northern Scotland, 23C in southeast England.

Tuesday 3/10/23
A west to northwest flow over the British Isles on Tuesday. Showers in Scotland and northern England as well as Northern Ireland. Further showers in northern Wales. Drier and brighter for most with sunny spells and a brisk wind as well. Highs at 12 to 17C.

Wednesday 4/10/23
Low pressure to the north of Scotland, a ridge of higher pressure to the south. Rain and wind in Scotland and Ireland. Fair for England and Wales with sunny spells although rain arriving in northwest England and north Wales by evening. Highs at 14 to 18C.

Thursday 5/10/23
A weak ridge of high pressure over the country on Thursday. Cloud and spots of rain in Scotland. A further areas of cloud in the far south of England again with some spots of rain. Brighter elsewhere, although more cloud in western Ireland with some spots of rain. Highs near 16 to 19C.

Friday 6/10/23
Low pressure west of Ireland with fronts bringing heavy rain into Ireland, Scotland, Wales and western England. Windy here too with gales. Drier East Anglia and southeast England. Highs at 23C in southeast England, 16C in northern Scotland.

Saturday 7/10/23
Cloud and some rain in central and northern Scotland. Further cloud and some rain in northern Ireland, Wales and Ireland. Some low cloud and drizzle along southern coasts and hills of England. Highs at 23C in southern England, 15C in northern Scotland.
