Mild and dry around Christmas. Mostly cloudy with occasional wet spells beyond.
A ridge of high pressure will give mostly calm and dry Christmas and Boxing Days. There are some signs that by the end of the week conditions may become foggy in England and Wales whilst drizzle and patchy rain affects Scotland, quite persistent in the northwest. Remaining mostly cloudy and turning cooler again by the weekend.

Christmas Day 25/12/24 A ridge of high pressure brings broken cloud and a dry day for most of the British Isles. Low cloud and some drizzle could affect western coasts and hills. Calmer winds may facilitate a few fog patches in central and southern areas of England. More cloud and some patchy rain for western Scotland and western Ireland. Breezy northwest Scotland but light winds elsewhere. Highs at 10C in the north, up to 14C south.
Boxing Day 26/12/24 High pressure over much of the country on Boxing Day. Still broken cloud, but calm and some sunny spells possible in England and eastern Wales. Drizzle and mist may come and go over western coasts and hills, generally murky here. More persistent rain in northern and western Scotland and western Ireland. Highs at 9C in Scotland, 11C in Ireland and southern England.
Friday 27/12/24 High pressure remains on Friday, although a front will bring rain to northwest Scotland and drizzle across central Scotland. Some mist and fog in central, southern and eastern England and Wales, slowly clearing to leave dry conditions. Sunny spells possible in southeast England. Highs at 8 to 10C.
Saturday 28/12/24 Fog could be widespread over England and Wales on Saturday under high pressure. The fog may be freezing too. Cloud and rain persist in north and western Scotland and Ireland as well as windier here. Highs at 2C in fog in the south, 8C in Scotland and Ireland.
Sunday 29/12/24 Fronts produce patchy rain in north and west Scotland on Sunday. Mist and fog may trouble southern England. Brighter spells possible in central England towards southern Scotland. Highs at 6 to 9C.
Monday 30/12/24 Monday sees a murky, cloudy day with patchy drizzle in western areas. More unsettled in the north. Becoming quite breezy in most areas. Highs at 5 to 6C.
