Wet again and very mild
Unsettled weather is going to be continuing during the coming week. Low pressure areas will be passing eastwards bringing cloud and rain as well as strong winds. With the jet stream expected to strengthen overhead next week there could be a period of severe gales and heavier rain. Remaining mostly very mild.

Saturday 19/12/15 Low pressure remains to the northwest of Scotland on Saturday. A front brings cloud and rain in much of Wales, northwest and southwest England as well as Scotland. The front pushes into the Midlands during the afternoon, although drier but rather cloudy to the east and south. Heavy showers follows into western Scotland and Ireland, but drier to the east. A very mild day at 8 to 15C.
Sunday 20/12/15 Rain passes east through Sunday with showers following from the west. The heaviest and most frequent of the showers in northern and western Scotland as well as Northern Ireland where some could merge into longer spells of rain. That rain may linger in southeast England for a time. Temperatures rising to between 7 and 13°C.
Monday 21/12/15 Monday may bring some very windy weather across most of the UK and Ireland. Low-pressure to the north and high pressure to the south will drive heavy rain across Scotland, Ireland, Northwest England, Wales and Southwest England, probably later in the day. Probably drier to the east and south. Highs at 8C in northern Scotland, 14C in southern England.
Tuesday 22/12/15 Low pressure passing through Scotland, and an overhead jetstream bring the potential for a stormy day with frequent showers and longer spells of rain. Highs near 7 to 12C.
Wednesday 23/12/15 Low pressure to the north of Scotland on Wednesday with a broad westerly flow bringing showers, some heavy across many northern and western areas. Some snow on Scottish hills. Less showers to the east. Windy for all. Highs at 6 to 11C.
Christmas Eve 24/12/15 The unsettled theme continues with low pressure bringing cloud and rain in from the west of Wednesday The rain could be heavy at times, and it may become windy too. Highs at 8 to 14C.
