An unsettled week with heavy rain at times, turning more settled and colder later
A mixed week ahead. Low pressure brings periods of rain to all areas, especially in the middle of the week. The rain could lead to flooding in places. Turning colder later in the week and more settled. Northerly winds developing as well as overnight frosts.

Monday 12/2/24 Low pressure northwest of Scotland on Monday. A breezy day in Scotland, northern England and Ireland. An area of showers merging to longer spells of rain reaching western Scotland and Ireland in the morning, then passing east through eastern Scotland, England and Wales in the afternoon. Some bursts of rain may be heavy with a risk of thunder. Otherwise starting dry and bright with good spells of sunshine in much of England, eastern Wales and eastern Scotland. Highs at 5C in northern Scotland, 10C in southern England.
Tuesday 13/2/24 Low pressure remains on Tuesday brings some showers to northern and western Scotland. Rain for southern Ireland and most of England and Wales, passing east and getting heavier and more persistent. Probably drier for northern England and eastern Scotland with some sunny spells here. Highs at 6 to 9C.
Wednesday 14/2/24 Low pressure remains through Wednesday, centred over Ireland. Rain and showers for many areas, some heavy here and there. Brightest in northern Scotland and drier weather here too. Tops at 6 to 11C.
Thursday 15/2/24 Low pressure may deepen over the country on Thursday. This brings some heavy periods of rain, mostly in central and southern areas, but further rain in Scotland. Drier in the west, windy here as well. Highs at 5 to 7C.
Friday 16/2/24 Low pressure drifts east of the country on Friday. A colder northerly flow is expected to develop in all areas. There may be some rain or sleet over eastern coasts of England. Most other areas are dry and bright, the best sunshine in the west. Feeling colder. Highs at 3 to 6C.
Saturday 17/2/24 High pressure continues to build through Sunday. A frost in the morning then mostly dry with good spells of sunshine. Some wintry showers could affect Shetland, orkney and northeast Scotland. Highs at 1 to 5C.
