Rain at times
This weekend sees a deep area of low pressure influence the British Isles, bringing heavy rain or showers, plus strong to gale force winds. Further rain threatens the west & north early next week, but temperatures are expected to rise across southern & eastern areas, perhaps becoming hot for a few days.

Monday 22/08/16 Low pressure to the north-west and a slow moving frontal system across central & northern Britain. Risk of persistent rain for Wales, northern England and perhaps the Midlands, heaviest over western hills. Patchy rain for Scotland & Northern Ireland. A lot of cloud overall, although some sun may break through in southern England, where it will feel humid. Mostly light winds, sea breezes. Highs 17 to 20C north; 22 to 25 south.
Tuesday 23/08/16 Uncertainty surrounding a slow-moving front across northern & western areas. A warm and humid air mass is likely to influence the south. Risk of rain affecting Ireland, pushing north into Scotland. Most likely dry for much of England & Wales. Hazy sunshine. Winds fairly light, sea breezes. An easterly breeze may freshen on the south coast. Increasingly warm, highs 23 to 27C, although cooler where rain lingers north & west.
Wednesday 24/08/16 Detail uncertain. A south to south-easterly pattern is expected, drawing increasingly hot and humid air across Britain. Risk bursts of rain for northern & western areas, whilst thunderstorms may drift out of Biscay toward the south-west. Hazy sunshine for many. Breezy some coasts. Temperatures may reach 26 to 29C central & eastern counties, nearer 20 to 23C north & west.
Thursday 25/08/16 Low confidence of detail. Expect very warm and humid conditions, particularly central & south-eastern Britain. Risk of thunderstorms, mainly in the west. Highs 23 to 27C, perhaps up to 30C.
Friday 26/08/16 Thundery rain may spread north & east across Britain, but much uncertainty of detail. Chance of another very warm and humid day in the south-east. Highs 22 to 27C, possibly 30C.
Saturday 27/08/16 Risk of rain or showers in the west & north, where fresher temperatures are expected. Drier south-east, where it is likely to remain warm, highs 18 to 26C.
