Fresh later after a hot start to the week
A hot start to the week. Rain affects western parts of the country for the next few days, but the east is drier. Fresher weather arriving on Thursday or Friday, although still feeling pleasent in the sunshine. The weekend becomes more mixed with showers or rain, most of it to the west, although hints of drier and warmer weather returning next week.

Thursday 15/9/16 Low pressure stays over the far south of England on Thursday, A front brings cloud and periods of rain through western Wales and southwest England, with heavier and thundery rain in western Scotland and Ireland. More eastern and southern areas turning steadily fresher with broken cloud and some bright or sunny spells. A low risk of an odd thunderstorm developing as the fresher air arrives. Highs near 17 to 27C with the fresh air in the west.
Friday 16/9/16 The area of low pressure drifts east on Friday. This brings some patchy rain to northern and eastern Scotland, with the risk of some thundery showers or rain in eastern England too. As a ridge of high pressure builds to the west it will become drier and brighter as well as fresher for much of England and Wales. A few showers arriving in western Scotland and the north and west of Ireland. Highs at 15 to 22C.
Saturday 17/9/16 A westerly flow across the country on Saturday with higher pressure to the south and lower pressure to the north. A trough passes east bringing some showers or longer spells of rain, mostly through Wales, northern England and Scotland. Drier and brighter elsewhere with some bright or sunny spells, the best of them to the south. Highs at 15 to 19C.
Sunday 18/9/16 A ridge of high pressure builds eastwards through the UK giving a fair day over eastern areas with good spells of sunshine. Lower pressure to the west of the UK with fronts pushing east into Ireland giving rain, some of it heavy. Highs at 15 to 20C.
Monday 19/9/16 Lower pressure stays to the west of the country on Monday. A front passes east giving outbreaks of rain. Turning brighter to the west with sunny spells, but also a few showers. Highs at 16 to 21C.
Tuesday 20/9/16 The pressure flow becomes more slack on Tuesday. This brings a milder day but one with sunny spells and a scattering of showers. The showers mostly in the west. Highs at 16 to 21C.
