Warm and dry at first, a few showers developing by the weekend in the south, then risk of rain next week

Staying dry and warm for the next few days, some morning cloud but this breaking and sunny spells developing. By the weekend showers are likely in southern areas and then an indication of conditions becoming much more unsettled and windy next week. Cooler too.

Saturday 21/9/24
The east to northeast flow continues through Saturday. This brings showers or longer spells of rain to southwest England, a few showers in central and southern England. One or two spots of rain could affect eastern coasts of England and Scotland too. Drier elsewhere with broken cloud and sunny spells, the best of these in the west. Showers may become more widespread in central and southern England as well as eastern Wales this afternoon, heavy and thundery in places. Highs at 17C in eastern Scotland, 24C in southern England.

Sunday 22/9/24
Low pressure over southern England with a front bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain to the far south of Ireland, Wales and England, some of it heavy. Brighter and drier for northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, sunshine in western areas. Cloudier in the east and northeast. Highs at 17 to 22C.


 

Monday 23/9/24
The area of low pressure drifting over East Anglia on Monday. Rain in central and eastern areas. Drier in Scotland, northwest England, Wales and Ireland with some bright or sunny periods here. Temperatures at a much cooler 15 to 19C.



 
 
 

Tuesday 24/9/24
There is a risk of a deep area of low pressure developing west of Ireland. This could bringing heavy rain and gale force winds over Ireland and western parts of the UK. However, confidence is low. Temperatures at 12 to 18C.



 
 
 

Wednesday 25/9/24
Low pressure over the British Isles on Wednesday, although again confidence is low. An unsettled, windy and cool day with heavy and thundery showers or longer spells of rain. Highs at 9C in northern Scotland, 19C in southern England.

Thursday 26/9/24
Low pressure in the North Sea on Thursday brings a colder north to northwest flow giving sunshine and showers. Most showers in Scotland and eastern England, fewer showers in the south. Highs at 10 to 15C.
