Rain and drizzle in northern areas, drier in the south, breezy at times
High pressure south of the country this week with lower pressure to the north. This brings a westerly flow overal with drier weather in the south, rain and drizzle at times in Scotland and Ireland.

Monday 29/1/24 Low pressure develops over the country on Monday as a front slips slowly east and south. It is likely to be a damp day for many, most rain in Scotland, northern England, Wales and eastern Ireland. Murky in these areas too with fog on hills. A risk of the rain turning wintry over northern hills in the afternoon. Drier for East Anglia and the southeast although cloudy here. Drier in western and northern Scotland together with western Ireland. Highs at a cooler 5C in Scotland and western Ireland, milder at 10C in England and Wales.
Tuesday 30/1/24 Low pressure east of the British Isles on Tuesday with a ridge of high pressure building from the west, Some outbreaks of rain at first, mostly north and east although turning drier from the west. Some bright spells developing. Highs at a 6 to 9C.
Wednesday 31/1/24 High pressure remains to the south with low pressure north on Wednesday. A front brings rain to Northern Ireland and Scotland. Breezier and dry in much of England and Wales, some sunny spells in the south too. Highs at 7 to 10C.
Thursday 1/2/24 A front brings coud and some drizzle in Scotland and northern England. Pressure building in Ireland, Wales and the rest of England with cloud breaking and some bright spells coming through. More persistent rain may affect the far north of Scotland. Highs at 7 to 12C.
Friday 2/2/24 A weak ridge of high pressure builds on Friday. However there will be a fair amount of cloud around with western coasts and hills seeing hill fog and drizzle. Brief bright spells in the east. Highs at 9 to 12C.
Saturday 3/2/24 High pressure south of the country on Saturday. Dry for many with some bright or sunny spells. A front brings some rain to northern England, Ireland and Wales. Cooler in Scotland with sunshine and showers, most north and west. Highs of 5C in northern Scotland, 11C in southern England.
