Mild, breezy southern areas but cooler in Scotland with rain here

A week which sees dry weather overall in the south with the winds increasing and reaching gale force at times. Mild here too. Becoming cooler in northern areas where there will be more rain and again it could be windy.

Tuesday 30/1/24
Low pressure remains on Tuesday. Cloud and outbreaks of rain. Some sleet and snow over the hills of northern England. Tending to be turning drier from the west and north. Sunny spells in Scotland and Ireland, these edging into western England and western Wales in the afternoon. Turning cooler in the east and south during the day. Highs around 6 to 8C.


 

Wednesday 31/1/24
High pressure remains to the south with low pressure north on Wednesday. A front brings rain toIreland and Scotland as well as northwest England. Breezier and dry in much of the rest of England and Wales, some sunny spells in the south too. Highs at 7 to 10C.


 

Thursday 1/2/24
A front brings cloud and some drizzle in Scotland and northern England. Rain heavy over the slopes of western Scotland. Some drizzle over western coasts and hills of Wales, southern Ireland and southwest England. Drier in central and eastern areas. A windy day. Highs at 8 to 11C.


 

Friday 2/2/24
A front brings rain over Northern Ireland and northern England, heavy over windwards facing slopes. Brighter in Scotland, sunny spells and a few showers in the northwest, these wintry on hills. Drizzle over western and southwestern coasts of England and Wales. Drier although with a fair amount of cloud in central and eastern parts. Highs at 6C in northern Scotland, 12C in southern England.

Saturday 3/2/24
Periods of rain and showers passing south through the UK and Ireland on Saturday. Turning cooler with most rain in the west. Sleet over the hills of Scotland. Highs at 5C in northern Scotland, 12C in the far south of England.

Sunday 4/2/24
A weak ridge of high pressure builds on Sunday. Bright or sunny spells and cooler weather for all. Rain in Ireland, reaching Wales and western England later. Some snow showers in the far north of Scotland. Highs at 4C in northern Scotland, 12C in southern England.
