Unsettled with wind and rain, cooler at the weekend, drier next wek and milder
Some wet and windy weather in the next couple of days, rather mild too. Conditions turn drier and brighter towards the weekend and it becomes cooler too. Higher pressure then controls the weather next week, but there will be some low cloud and drizzle. Turning milder again too.

Heavy periods of rain passing east overnight, bringing gusty winds. By Friday morning low pressure will be north of Scotland. It should be a brighter day with a mix of bright or sunny spells and showers. The showers could be heavy in the west. A band of more persistent showers may slip south through Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England in the afternoon, snow over highest ground. Highs at 5 to 7C for most and feeling chilly, 9C in the southeast.
A ridge of high pressure builds on Saturday. There will be bright spells with sunny spells, best in the east and south. A few showers over western coasts and hills, breezy in northern Scotland. Cloudier western Scotland, some snow over hills. Highs at 5 to 7C.
High pressure over southern Ireland on Sunday, this affecting much of the country. Warm front passing east bringing low cloud and drizzle and outbreaks of rain over western coasts and hills, a risk of fog here too. Eastern and southern areas should be drier, perhaps brighter to. rather misty and murky. Highs at 4 to 6C.
High pressure remains over the south of the UK on Monday. A far amount of cloud and rather murky with mist or fog patches. Drizzle over western coast and hills, more persistent rain in northwest Scotland. Highs at 5 to 9C.
Higher pressure continues to affect the country on Tuesday. A weak front through Ireland and northern England bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Drier and milder to the south, colder to the north. Best of any sunshine in northern Scotland. Highs at 8 to 12C.
High pressure stays over the south of the UK on Wednesday. Plenty of cloud and drizzle, mist and murk with some fog on western coasts and hills. Highs at 8 to 11C.
