A cooler and more unsettled weekend, then drier and warmer next week

A spell of more unsettled weather develops through this weekend. Feeling cooler with outbreaks of showers and rain. Tending to turn drier again next week as higher pressure builds to the west. It should become drier with sunny spells and is likely to be feeling milder again.

Monday 20/05/19
Low pressure to the east of the UK with higher pressure building to the west. There will be a mix of sunny spells and showers in many areas, most of these affecting eastern parts of the UK and Ireland. Drier and brighter for Wales, Northern Ireland and western parts of England and Scotland. Highs at just 12C in the northwest but up to 20C in southern England, more generally 14 to 17C.

Tuesday 21/05/19
Low pressure stays close by on Tuesday. This brings some sunny spells and showers. The showers tending to be scattered, although they could be thundery in places. Drier and brighter for the southwest, eastern parts of Ireland and the far north of Scotland. High temperatures widely at 14 to 20C, just 12 or 13C for eastern coasts.
 

Wednesday 22/05/19
A slack pressure gradient over the UK and Ireland on Wednesday. This some sunny spells but also allows for showers to develop. Staying mostly dry and bright in Wales and the southwest. Highs at 14 to 20C for most. Just 11 to 12C in the northwest of Scotland.
 

Thursday 23/05/19
Higher pressure builds on Thursday bringing good sunny spells and a dry day for most. Some showers developing later across Ireland, the south of England and the far north of Scotland. Highs at 15 to 19C for most. Just 9 to 11C in the northwest of Scotland while some favoured spots in England could see 20 to 21C.

Friday 24/05/19
Low pressure to the south on Friday extends a trough across the country. This brings periods of rain to Wales and central and southern England. Sunny spells elsewhere. Highs widely at 16 to 19C; 20 to 22C is possible in the southeast while the far northwest will reach just 10 or 11C.

Saturday 25/05/19
Saturday sees low pressure moving to the southeast bringing further rain to eastern parts of England. Cloudy for eastern areas. Dry and brighter to the north and west. High temperatures at 12 to 19C.
