Becoming more unsettled with wind and rain for all

The weather is set to be turning more unsettled over the coming days. Low pressure will be bringing strong winds and some rain for all. Staying unsettled into the weekend with more wind, rain and showers. Next week is hinted at being drier to the south, although more northern areas having further spells of rain and showers.

Friday 19/8/16
A deep area of low pressure is expected to be close to western Ireland on Friday. This pushes strong winds and rain eastwards through Ireland and into the western UK early Friday, this area of rain then reaching eastern England and southern and central Scotland through the afternoon. Drier in the far north of Scotland, rain here in the evening. Brighter weather with heavy showers following into Ireland, Wales and southwest England. The showers merging into longer periods of rain in Ireland through the afternoon. Highs at 17 to 22C.


Saturday 20/8/16
Unsettled and becoming windy across southern England and Wales on Saturday with a good deal of cloud and plenty of showers, some heavy. Low pressure is expected over Ireland bringing the strongest winds through southern Ireland, Wales and southern England. Probably drier and brighter in central and northern Scotland. Highs of 17 to 21C.
 


Sunday 21/8/16
Low pressure passes east across the UK on Sunday. This brings heavy showers or longer spells of rain early in the day over central and eastern areas. Brighter with sunny spells and scattered showers in more northern and western areas, this brighter, showery weather slipping east through the day. Highs at 16 to 21C.
 


Monday 22/8/16
Low pressure close to western Ireland on Monday. Fronts pass eastwards taking rain with them, most of the rain affecting Scotland, with a further area of rain through southern parts of England. Sunshine and showers follow from the west. Tops at 15 to 22C.


Tuesday 23/8/16
Low pressure to the north of Scotland on Tuesday, higher pressure to the south. Periods of rain may affect Scotland and Northern Ireland. Showers for Wales and southern Ireland with scattered showers in central and northern England. Drier to the south of England with more spells of sunshine. Tops at 16 to 22C.

Wednesday 24/8/16
Sunshine and showers over Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern Ireland on Wednesday. Fair in central and southern areas with further spells of sunshine through the day. Tops at 18 to 23C.
