Mostly dry and cool at first, then more mixed this weekend, briefly warmer
Cool for the first part of this week with only limited rain. Turning more mixed from Thursday and into the weekend, possible warm for a short time in central and eastern areas. A cooler, mixed start to next week in the east, but drier north and west.

Thursday 19/8/21 An area of showery rain will be tracking eastwards through much of Wales and southern England on Thursday. Cloudy with a few showers in Ireland. Another area of cloud will be affecting much of central and eastern Scotland with some showery bursts of rain here. Much fresher and brighter in northern Scotland. Northern England and Northern Ireland should be generally dry and bright with some sunny spells, and just an odd shower. Highs at 15 to 23C.
Friday 20/8/21 Low pressure west of Ireland bringing some cloud and rain into Ireland. The UK has more broken cloud and bright or sunny spells. It should be dry overall, although a risk of a few showers in northwest England. Highs at 16 to 22C.
Saturday 21/8/21 Low pressure over western areas of the UK bringing some rain into Wales and western England. Rain too in Ireland and this will be affecting western and central Scotland. The east should be drier and there may be some very warm spells of sunshine developing over the Midlands, southern and eastern England. Fair in the far north of Scotland. Highs at 25C in any sunshine in the south, more widely 17 to 19C.
Sunday 22/8/21 A more unsettled day for many on Sunday as low pressure drifts into the British Isles. Periods of rain over Ireland, England and Wales, some of it heavy in northern England. Turning drier in the south although with drizzle on coasts and hills. Brighter in Scotland, the best sunshine in the west, some rain over eastern coasts of Scotland. Highs at 15 to 23C.
Monday 23/8/21 Low pressure to the east of England on Monday. There could be some more cloud and showery bursts of rain in central and eastern areas. Brighter in Scotland with the best sunshine ion the west. Becoming drier and brighter in Ireland as well as the west of Wales. Highs at 15 to 22C.
Tuesday 24/8/21 Still a risk of some showers and cloud affecting East Anglia and southeast England. Broken cloud for eastern coasts of Scotland and dry here. Some sunny spells in western Scotland as well as western England, Wales and Ireland. Highs at 15 to 22C.
