Warmer toward next weekend

Northwesterly winds this week will make it feel rather chilly for mid September, with showery rain frequent in the north and west. Improving in the south later in the week, but further rain at times northwestern regions.

Wednesday 11/9/24
Low pressure between Scotland and Norway brings chilly northwesterly winds affecting all areas. Frequent showers over Scotland and Northern Ireland, also western areas of England and Wales. Brighter and drier in the south and east, but scattered showers in central and eastern England into afternoon, some heavy later. Highs 10 to 12C north, coolest northern Scotland, 13 to 16C central & southern Britain, but feeling colder in the wind.

Thursday 12/9/24
Fresh northwesterly winds continue, but less windy than previous days. Showers affecting the north and west although not as frequent or as heavy as the last couple of days. A few showers moving into the Midlands. Good spells of sunshine for most south and eastern areas. Highs 10 to 17C, warmest southeast.
 

Friday 13/9/24
Higher pressure builds across the south. Broken cloud and mostly dry in England and Wales, although an increasing risk of drizzle over northwestern coasts and hills. Heavier rain in Scotland and Northern Ireland, strengthening southwesterly winds. Highs 12 to 17C, warmest south and east.
 

Saturday 14/9/24
Higher pressure south of the country again bringing mostly dry weather to England and eastern Wales. Rain for Scotland, northwest England and Ireland with low cloud on hills here. Highs 14 to 20C, warmest central and eastern areas.

Sunday 15/9/24
A weakening front moving south brings patchy rain to northern England, the Midlands, Wales and southwest. Dry in the southeast with sunny spells. Showers in northern and western Scotland. Highs 13 to 20C.
