Cooler and drier, mist and fog, turning milder into the weekend and next week
A change in the weather early this week as high pressure builds allowing for a few days of drier conditions. There will be some mist and fog patches which could last into the afternoon is central and eastern areas. Sunshine may be limited for some. Becoming cooler too. More unsettled by the weekend with a fair amount of cloud and becoming milder again.

High pressure is going to be bringing a fair day for most. However, morning mist and fog patches may be slow to clear. Once they have gone there will be sunny spells and the day should be dry. Increased winds in northern and western Scotland bringing some spots of drizzle onto the coasts here. The best of any sunshine will be in more eastern areas. Highs at a cool 9 to 11C.
High pressure to the east of the UK on Friday. The risk of some mist and fog patches in eastern areas again, but these lifting to leave sunny spells. Further west it will be dry and bright with more sunshine during the day. Increased winds in southwest England and southern England. Highs at 7 to 11C.
High pressure remains affecting eastern areas on Saturday. Low pressure southwest of Ireland will be pushing fronts east and will bring cloud and outbreaks of rain across Ireland, southwest England and Wales. Brighter in the north and east and dry here too. Highs at 8C in northern Scotland, 15C in southwest England.
Fronts pass east on Sunday taking periods of rain with them. Showers following onto western coasts and hills with low pressure remaining to the west of Ireland. Most places will have only a few showers, some sunny spells too. Tops at 10C in northern Scotland, but a milder 13 to 16C in southern areas.
Lower pressure remains to the west of Ireland on Monday. Areas of cloud affecting many areas bringing some outbreaks of rain, most of them to the west. Tops near 12 to 14C.
Higher pressure builds on Tuesday bringing dry conditions for most. There will be broken cloud but some bright spells too. Highs at 10 to 15C.
