Becoming very cold with a risk of overnight frosts and some wintry showers on hills next week
It's a cold and mixed week ahead. Winds become north to northwesterly and temperatures will be falling sharply as a result. There will be showers and these will be heavy and frequent into next week, after having been mostly dry through the Easter weekend. Overnight frosts are likely. Showers will be wintry over hills.

High pressure dominates again through Saturday. It will be another cold start with a frost for some. Plenty of sunshine throughout the day for most areas. There could be some cloud drifting onto coasts of East Anglia and southeast England from time to time, but this would be limited. Milder in Scotland at 14C, cooler southern England at 11C.
Easter Sunday 4/4/21
A fair day for many parts of central and southern England and Wales on Easter Sunday. Cloud will tend to increase after morning sunshine. A band of cloud and rain passing south through Scotland, turning wintry over the hills, reaching the northern half of Ireland in the afternoon. Increasingly breezy, especially in the north. Highs at 3C in northern Scotland, 17C in southern England.
Easter Monday 5/4/21
A cold day for all on Monday with a widespread, sharp early frost. There will be sunny spells, but also a risk of showers affecting western, northern and eastern coasts. The showers will be most frequent in northern Scotland where they could fall of snow even at low levels. Highs at 2 to 7C.
High pressure west of Ireland with low pressure to the east. There will be fair amount of cloud and also showers. The showers could be heavy at times. Sleet and snow over the hills of Scotland. Highs around 4 to 11C.
Better conditions in southern areas on Wednesday as a weak ridge of high pressure builds to bring some bright or sunny spells. Heavy showers in northern and western Scotland as well as Northern Ireland. Brighter to the east and south. Highs at 7 to 10C.
Staying cold through Thursday. The northwest wind brings sunny spells and a scattering of showers. Most showers affecting northern and eastern areas. Highs at 4 to 10C.
