Turning colder with a threat of sleet and snow
Turning colder this week with a risk of sleet and snow for many. There is still much uncertainty in the forecast although indications are that the colder air starts to arrive in the north on Tuesday, before slipping through most other areas into the middle of the week. There is a risk of some more significant accumulations of snow, mostly but not only on high ground although details are difficult to establish right now.

Wednesday 7/2/24 Rain across southern, central and eastern England at first on Wednesday morning, clearing steadily easy. Brighter and colder weather in Scotland and northern England moving south during the morning and afternoon. A colder day with highs at 2C in northern Scotland, 7C in southern England.
Thursday 8/2/24 Low pressure passing through southern England brings a spells of wet and, for some, wintry weather through England and Wales. rain could be heavy and will be turning to sleet and snow over north Wales, the northern Midlands and far south of northern England. Accumulations of snow are likely in these places. Colder and brighter Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland. Highs at 12C along southern coasts of England, 2C in central Scotland.
Friday 9/2/24 A cold northeast flow affecting all areas on Friday. This brings some snow showers to eastern coasts. Other places are drier and brighter, the best sunshine in the west. A chance of cloud and some rain affecting southern coasts of England. Highs at 3 to 6C.
Saturday 10/2/24 Low pressure may drift into southern England on Saturday . This brings another spells of cloudy, wet and unsettled weather to England and Wales. A risk of some snow over north Wales and northern England, especially but not exclusively on hills. Colder, brighter Scotland and Northern Ireland. Highs at 10C in the far southeast, 2 to 4C for most other areas.
Sunday 11/2/24 The area of low pressure affects East Anglia on Sunday. Further rain, sleet and snow could affect northern England. Sunshine and wintry showers for most other places. Dry and fine but cold in western Scotland. Highs at 1 to 4C for most, 7C in East Anglia and southeast England.
Monday 12/2/24 Low pressure remains close to East Anglia on Monday. A day of sunshine and wintry showers. These will be heavy and frequent in the east where snow accumulations are likely. Brighter and drier west. Highs at 1 to 5C.
