Turning colder next week with sleety showers over eastern and southern coasts and hills

Temperatures are going to be falling significantly into next week as easterly winds set in across the UK and Ireland. There will be an increasing risk of some wintry showers, most over eastern and southern coasts and hills. Overnight severe frosts may affect central and western Scotland. The best of the sunshine always in the west.

Saturday 8/12/18
Low pressure to the east and west of the Uk and Ireland on Saturday. Sunshine and scattered showers in Scotland, some wintry on hills. A windy day with drier weather early on across most other areas. Showers, heavy in western Ireland will gather and move eastwards through the afternoon, most of the rain in Ireland, southern Scotland, northwest England and western Wales. Staying windy in the south. Highs at 13C in southern England, 5C in central Scotland.


Sunday 9/12/18
Low pressure to the east on Sunday with high pressure to the west. The result is a cold northwest wind. Periods of showery rain in England and Wales in the morning. There will be sunny spells but also some showers. Most showers are going to be over eastern parts of England and Scotland with snow on hills, drier to the west. Highs at 4 to 9C.

 


Monday 10/12/18
Pressure building on Monday. An occasional shower over eastern coasts where there will be some sunny spells too. The risk of some morning mist and fog in western England, Wales and Scotland, slowly clearing in the morning. Highs at 3 to 6C.

 
 
 


Tuesday 11/12/18
High pressure drifts north of Scotland on Tuesday. A northeast wind brings cold conditions through all parts of the UK and Ireland. Scattered showers on eastern coasts turning sleety. Brighter skies in the west. Highs at 2 to 4C.


Wednesday 12/12/18
High pressure to the north with low pressure to the south. An east to northeast wind will be bringing cold weather to all areas. The showers in the east turning more frequent and falling as sleet or snow at times. Fewer showers to the west. Highs at 2 to 5C.

Thursday 13/12/18
A cold day with the easterly flow again bringing some wintry showers in eastern areas as well as around southern coasts. Rather cloudy elsewhere. Highs at 2 to 5C.
