Much colder next week, a risk of hill snow

After a warm couple of days ahead to end this week, temperatures are going to be taking a tumble into the weekend and next week. It will be feeling especially cold in the northwest wind, and there is a risk of showers turning wintry over the high ground of Scotland and northern England.

Saturday 30/3/19
The wind flow turns more northwesterly on Saturday bringing cooler weather to all. An area of cloud with showery bursts of rain will be slipping south through Ireland and northern England, then into Wales and the Midlands. Staying milder in the south with some sunshine. Showers and brighter weather follow to the north with some wintry showers in central and northern Scotland. Highs at 6C in northern Scotland, 18C in southeast England, 10 to 13C for most.


Sunday 31/3/19
Pressure stays high through Sunday. This brings dry weather and sunny spells for most. There will be some cloud developing in the afternoon, although this stays broken and mainly affects inland areas. Feeling chilly at 7 to 12C.

 
 
 


Monday 1/4/19
A colder day for all on Monday as pressure stays high to the south. This brings dry conditions and plenty of sunshine. Cloudier in northern England, Ireland and Scotland with rain in northern and western Scotland. Windier in northern areas too, making it feel colder. Highs at 6 to 11C.
 


Tuesday 2/4/19
The flow turns more northwesterly through Tuesday. This brings a cold day with showers. There will be some brighter spells. Snow over high ground of Scotland and northern England as heavier showers pass through. Highs at 7 to 12C.


Wednesday 3/4/19
Another cold day in a northwest wind. Sunny spells and showers are likely, the showers heavy at times. These showers wintry over hills of Wales, northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Highs at 4 to 10C.

Thursday 4/3/19
Chilly again for Thursday. A ridge of high pressure builds and so many areas are dry with some sunny spells. Scattered showers may continue to affect eastern coasts. Highs at 6 to 10C.
